As part of the Reading Day Week Celebration 2026, a debate competition on the topic “Are Physical Books Better than E-Books and Audio books?” was conducted for the II ndSemester Bsc.nursing students on 23/06/2026 from 11.00 am at PKDCN Library
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of the Principal, Prof. Dr.Priya Mary Stella Vice Principal, Prof.Dr.Ariyalakshmi .B, Mr.Srinivasan .M ,Managing Coordinator, Administration NGIK, whose encouragement motivated the students to participate actively. The competition aimed to promote reading habits, critical thinking, and effective communication skills among students. The librarian, Mrs.Savitha .S welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. The welcome speech was presented byMs Athira.C ,&Ms.Deeptha Marin Shibu, II semester students
The participants presented thoughtful arguments both in favour of physical books and digital reading formats. Supporters of physical books highlighted their ability to improve concentration, provide a tactile reading experience, and foster a deeper connection with the text. Those advocating e-books and audio books emphasized their convenience, portability, and accessibility in today's digital world.
The debate witnessed enthusiastic participation from the first semester students. The speakers demonstrated confidence, clarity of thought, and excellent presentation skills. The audience also showed keen interest throughout the programme.
The judges evaluated the participants based on content, presentation, confidence, and communication skills. Both the teams were awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding performance. The vote of thanks was presented by Ms .Fathima Fidha .P ,II semester students and the programme concluded successfully, enriching the Reading Day Week Celebration and encouraging students to appreciate the value of reading in all its forms.
