WORLD SCHIZOPHRENIA DAY

The Department of Mental Health Nursing of PK DAS College of Nursing organized the World Schizophrenia Day programme on 25/05/2026 at 10.00 AM in observance of World Schizophrenia Day, which was officially marked on 24/05/2026. The programme was conducted for the 6th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students as the beneficiaries. Around 10 faculty members participated in the programme along with all departmental Heads and faculties. The programme commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Ms. Adona.6th semester B. SC (N) student, PKDCN. The event was gracefully compered by Ms. Shabnam and Ms. Catherine, 6th semester B. SC (N) student, PKDCN.
The theme of the programme was “Rethink the Label: Reclaim the Story.” The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A. Priya Mary Stella, Principal, PKDCN who delivered the inaugural address highlighting the importance of mental health awareness, stigma reduction, and compassionate care for individuals suffering from schizophrenia. Following the inaugural session, the theme revelation was conducted.
As part of the programme activities, Mr. Ashik, Tutor, PKDCN conducted an informative and interactive quiz competition to improve students’ understanding regarding schizophrenia and mental health awareness. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students.
In the quiz competition, the First Prize was secured by Ms. Gopika Sunil and team, while the Second Prize was won by Ms. Anagha Sujesh, 6th Semester B.Sc Nursing Student and team.
The programme concluded successfully at 11.30 AM with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Anirudh. The programme was highly informative and successful in creating awareness about schizophrenia and promoting positive attitudes toward mental health care among students and faculty members.
