The NSS Unit of P K Das College of Nursing observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 at 9:15 AM on the college campus with great enthusiasm and active participation. The programme was organized under the theme “Inspired by Nature: For Climate. For Our Future”, emphasizing the importance of protecting natural ecosystems and adopting sustainable practices to address climate change.
The programme commenced at 9:15 AM with the inauguration by Prof. Dr. A. Priya Mary Stella, Principal, P K Das College of Nursing, who planted a sapling as a symbolic gesture of environmental conservation. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the significance of environmental protection and encouraged students and staff to actively contribute towards building a greener and healthier future.
Following the inauguration, a sapling plantation drive was conducted within the campus. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the activity, reaffirming their commitment to environmental sustainability. The plantation drive served as a practical initiative to promote greenery and create awareness regarding the collective responsibility of safeguarding the environment.
A total of around 15 NSS volunteers and 18 teaching and non-teaching faculty members participated in the programme. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the urgent need for climate action and inspired participants to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
The programme concluded with the distribution of tea and snacks. The World Environment Day celebration was a meaningful and successful initiative that reinforced the message of environmental stewardship and motivated participants to contribute towards a sustainable future.
