The World Brain Tumor Day Observation was conducted successfully on 08 June 2026 at 10:30 AM at PK Das college of nursing Vaniyamkulam. The programme aimed to raise awareness about brain tumors, their early detection, treatment options, and the importance of timely medical intervention.
The theme for World Brain Tumor Day 2026 was "A Closer Look." This theme encouraged the public and healthcare professionals to pay closer attention to the early warning signs of brain tumors, reduce diagnostic delays, and improve global access to life-saving diagnostic scans and treatment facilities.
The programme commenced with a Prayer song, Welcome Speech delivered by Ms Raina Puthoorkara Jickson (IV Semester BSc nursing). The programme was formally inaugurated by the Principal cum Professor Dr A Priya Mary Stella, who delivered the inaugural address emphasizing the significance of observing World Brain Tumor Day. Felicitation Address was delivered by Prof Dr Geetha Chithra J, HOD of Medical Surgical Nursing, Lt. Col Prof Dr Regina HOD of OBG, Prof Zaina Elizebeth Jose HOD of Community Health Nursing, who acknowledged the importance of the day's theme and encouraged students to become advocates for health awareness within their communities.
To reinforce the message of the observance, a Quiz Competition was organized based on topics related to brain tumors, neurological health, risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. The competition was conducted in three rounds: the First Round, Second Round, and an exciting Rapid-Fire Round. The participating teams displayed excellent knowledge, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the competition.
Following the completion of all rounds, the scores were evaluated and the winners were declared. A Prize Distribution Ceremony was conducted, during which the faculty members distributed prizes and certificates to the winning teams. The winners of the quiz competition were:
First Prize: Group A
Second Prize: Group B
Third Prize: Group C
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks, Ms Riswana Rishin (IV Semester BSc Nursing) who delivered by the who expressed sincere gratitude to the principal, HODs, faculty members, participants, and organizing committee members for their wholehearted support and cooperation in making the event a grand success.
The World Brain Tumour Day Observation effectively created awareness among students about the importance of recognizing early symptoms, seeking timely medical attention, and supporting initiatives that improve access to diagnosis and treatment. The programme successfully reflected the spirit of the 2026 theme, "A Closer Look," and inspired participants to be more conscious of brain health and neurological well-being.
