OPERATION TOOFAN - ANTI-DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME
An Anti-Drug Awareness Programme under Operation Toofan – “The Narco Hunt” was conducted at P.K. Das College of Nursing on 18 September 2026 at 10.00 AM as an initiative to strengthen awareness and preventive education on substance abuse among the student community.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A. Priya Mary Stella, Principal, P.K. Das College of Nursing, who delivered the Inaugural Address. The session focused on the need for timely awareness, responsible choices and active participation of young people in preventing substance abuse. Mr. Binu Ramachandran, Senior Civil Police Officer, led the awareness session and addressed the participants on drug abuse, its associated risks, preventive measures and the importance of maintaining a drug-free environment.
The programme was attended by Heads of Departments, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and students, reflecting the collective participation of the institution in strengthening anti-drug awareness.
Beneficiaries
The programme benefited students from First Year, Second Year and Third Year B.Sc. Nursing, PKDCN who participated in the awareness programme and interacted with the resource person during the session.
Programme Outcome
The programme provided students with an opportunity to gain practical awareness regarding substance abuse, associated health and social consequences, preventive measures and the importance of early intervention. The session also encouraged students to recognize their responsibility in promoting a drug-free environment within the institution and the wider community. The programme reinforced the institutional commitment towards student well-being, health promotion and prevention of substance abuse, while encouraging students to adopt informed and responsible health practices.
The programme concluded with a strengthened message of “Choose Life, Not Drugs” and a collective commitment towards a healthier and drug-free society.
