The mission of Department of Medical and Surgical nursing is as follows: -

• To promote hands on Skill in advanced Nursing Procedures
• To facilitate Research activities by the student and faculty
• To update the students and faculty of the change in protocols and policies in the field of Medical Surgical Nursing
• To develop Guidelines for the conduct and encourage collaborative activities with other departments in the college and university

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Department is dedicated to achieving excellence in nursing education, fostering competent, compassionate, and ethical professionals capable of delivering high-quality adult health care. We commit to continuous quality improvement in teaching-learning processes, curriculum delivery, clinical training, and research, aligned with the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council (INC), University Grants Commission (UGC), and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) standards for Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS). These objectives are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) and support IQAS/IQAC goals for academic enhancement in the department:

   Enhance Teaching-Learning Effectiveness — Achieve ≥90% student satisfaction in feedback surveys on theory and clinical teaching, and ensure 100% coverage of curriculum with innovative methods (e.g., simulation, case studies) annually.

   Strengthen Clinical Competency — Ensure 100% of students demonstrate proficiency in core medical-surgical nursing skills (e.g., perioperative care, wound management, IV therapy) through OSCE assessments, targeting ≥85% pass rates in clinical evaluations.

   Promote Evidence-Based Practice and Research — Facilitate at least 80% of faculty and postgraduate students to engage in research activities, with publication of minimum 5 departmental papers/projects per year, and integration of current evidence in ≥95% of lesson plans.

   Improve Student Performance and Outcomes — Attain ≥95% pass rates in university examinations for medical-surgical nursing subjects and reduce dropout rates by 10% through mentorship and remedial programs within the academic year.

   Faculty and Infrastructure Development — provide professional development training to 100% of faculty annually and ensure optimal utilization of departmental resources (e.g., labs, library) with ≥90% satisfaction from audits.

   Stakeholder Engagement and Feedback — Collect and act on feedback from students, alumni, and clinical preceptors, achieving ≥85% implementation of suggestions for quality enhancement in departmental meetings.
